Morning Chaga Latte

Morning Chaga Latte: β˜•οΈ
Chaga steeped and decocted overnight (or simmered 1-2 hours) - I usually just make a big pot that I can use over a few days
Unsweetened almond milk (1:1 with the chaga)
Tbsp of Almond butter
A dollop of coconut oil
2 tsp of cinnamon!
Blend in mixer and serve!

πŸ„ This fantastic fungus is found on birch and other trees in colder climates. It looks a bit like burnt charcoal on the outside.

The latin name is Inonotus obliquus and this conk is comprised of wood from the substrate or host tree and mycelium of the fungus.
As unappealing as it might be to the eye, to the body it is like a warm hug that grants super powers! (so-to-speak)

It is an immuno-modulator, which means it boosts your immune system when it's low or slows it down if it's running too high (like in autoimmune disease). It is anti-inflammatory and pain relieving. It supports the integrity of your blood vessels and can soothe irritation or discomfort in neuropathy.
It is a powerful antioxidant - In fact, chaga has one of the highest ORAC scores of any superfood! (the measure of antioxidant potency - stand for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity)
The health benefits impact your respiratory system, cardiovascular system, and digestive system (especially in cases of gastritis and ulcers). It has antimicrobial and antiviral properties, potentially anti-cancer properties, and to top that all off it is also protective against DNA damage!

Consider adding this SuperDrink to your routine instead of coffee a couple of times a week! #rootedhealth

Please speak with your healthcare professional before taking Chaga if you have kidney issues or are susceptible to oxalate kidney stones as Chaga is high in oxalates.
In vitro studies suggest that constituents of chaga mushroom extract may interact with anticoagulant and anti-diabetic drugs.
