Kim Niddery and her daughter in tofino

Dr. Kim Niddery ND

I’m a naturopathic doctor and twin mom of three, living and practicing in Revelstoke BC. I see patients in person in Revelstoke, Golden, and Nakusp, and virtually anywhere in BC.

My first degree was in science, and I still think from this prospective. I’m curious and careful, and I always want to know why. That’s the heart of how I practice. I look for the root of what’s going on, let evidence guide the plan, and draw on what nature and tradition do well. Then we build something that fits your actual life, not an ideal version of it.

There’s more health information out there than ever, and some of it is even good. But a search bar can’t examine you, read your labs against your history or connect the dots and put the pieces together. It won’t catch the thing you mentioned in passing that turns out to matter, and it won’t be there in six weeks to adjust the plan. That part is my job, and I love what I do.

Being a mom and getting outside as often as I can keeps me grounded, and it keeps my advice practical. I’m also proud to serve on the Board of Directors of the British Columbia Naturopathic Doctor Association (BCND).

I live and work on the traditional territories of the Secwépemc, Ktunaxa, Syilx/Okanagan, and Sinixt peoples, and I’m grateful to do this work here.

Naturopathic Medicine

NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE WORKS WITH YOU TO TREAT THE UNDERLYING CAUSE OF DISEASE.

Licensed naturopathic physicians are subject to rigorous formal naturopathic medical training and offer naturopathic primary medical care.

We are strictly regulated through the College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC and the Health Profession Act, and we are required by law to follow a specific scope of practice. We diagnose conditions, use laboratory assessments, and conduct physical and screening exams.

Naturopathic medicine takes a holistic approach, treating everyone as an individual and treating the whole person. We try to fully address your health concerns by taking more time, and doing more extensive testing and assessments.  We look for the causes of illnesses, rather than merely ameliorating symptoms. While conventional medicine attacks disease by intervening with drugs or surgery, naturopathic medicine takes the opposite approach, tackling disease by supporting the body's natural defences.  In BC, some NDs have prescriptive authority (voluntary), which means they can prescribe pharmaceutical medicine when required. Both approaches have their place; naturopathic and conventional medicine are complementary; neither alone is the complete answer to health.

NATUROPATHIC DOCTORS ARE TRAINED AS NATUROPATHIC GENERAL PRACTITIONERS IN COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE, PROVIDING A FULL RANGE OF DIAGNOSTIC TESTS AND THERAPIES
